I'm a big fish man. Rainbows, macks, browns, cats, pike. But I love catching a mess of decent sized gills. The 6 - 8" nice ones are great on the table, as good as walleye or perch almost. However no fish of any size, pound for pound, pulls as hard as a giant gill. They are built for power and the wild spinning they do make them a true challenge. Long live the bluegill, the king of the reliable biter. Big ones are very smart though.
