Lowell Lake 2010
« on: Jan 22, 2010, 03:19 PM »
Just wondering if anyone has fished Lowell Lake this year and how the bite is? We are coming up from Massachusetts and hoped to fish there is things sounded okay. We did pretty well last year there. Any news?

Well not much talk here on the board but my father-in-law spoke with an old friend that was up to Lowell Lake and he had some luck with perch and a nice bass on a jig stick. We may give this a try after all. Anyone else been up this way lately?

I fished Lowell last Saturday and we caught a handful of small Pickerel and a few nice size Perch both jigging and on tip ups. The ice was about 12" thick. We moved around a fair amount trying to get something hot going but that didn't happen. We had live minnows from small to big and I set my tip ups all with the bigger bait and was alternating running some just below the ice and some down just off the bottom.

Such a nice spot, scenic and relaxing. Not sure what the recent rain did to the conditions there but one good way to find out!

Good luck.

Lavman thanks for the post, I appreciate the report. We may give it a try soon and I'll post any results. Cheers!

The fishing in MA has been good so far. Some good bass, perch, pickeral and crappies. Not sure how to add a picture but i have some decent photos.

So we went to Lowell Lake last weekend. There was one fellow jigging and he didn't seem to have much luck. There was another party of two that caught some bass.

We fished 8 men in a large area and caught several bass and only three perch. We kept the perch but all bass were returned as required. We had a nice day and grilled at least 6 different types of sausage, some steak and venison to stay warm in the cold air. Good time by the group but mostly small bass and limited perch.

An average day fishing is better than work any day.  ;D

Cheers!

I popped over around 2:30 and saw your gang out there, smoke rolling off the grill, looked like you guys were having a good time, glad you caught a few fish. When I got home I told my wife we're pretty lucky, we live 5 miles from Lowell Lake and get to enjoy it whenever we like and these poor saps have to drive all the way from MA just to fish it! (Even after that heartfelt story she still said NO on my offer to take her fishing over there for Valentine's Day, hey, I tried!  ;D)
