I have one and it works great.  very dependable and the zoom feature is nice as well as the adjustable interference.  It is a great alternative to the circular flasher with its vertical line style graph as well. My six year old can use and know when a fish is there much easier then on my Lowrance

I have one and love it! easy to use and very sensative, I have never used the circular type so I can't tell you witch one is best only that I'm happy with the showdown.  :) :) :)

Polar,

I was told the company is switching hands, and there is a shortage.  I was trying to purchase one a little while back and ended up settling with the ice 35 humminbird.  The sell the humminbird at cabelas and it was on sale.
I was watching used old models on ebay going as much as a new one should.

The hummin bird has great interference rejection, dual beams I think 9/19 degrees, fairly easy to learn, and I got it for 254 at cabelas on sale.  I had only used a showdown and never a spinning flasher, and do not find the spinning flasher to be any worse or better.

I was originally looking into getting the Humminbird Ice 35 until I read this thread and went to the showdown website.  I liked the way the Showdown's zoom worked (should be even better now with 5.6 version), the accuracy it seemed to have to separate objects, and just the fact that it was set up verticle, like the fishing situation.  It seems as though the battery life on the Showdown should also be better.

I have been running showdown (v. 3.2) for a couple years now, and it has definately changed icefishing for me.  It works as easy as on the tv.  I haven't had a problem with running out of battery life yet.  I was watching them on ebay a week ago and last I saw they were bid up over $310- where if they were available @ Cab's they would be $270-.  Wonderful toy for the ice.

I've used one for 2 years and think there great. Easy to use, long battery life and great customer service. This is a link to their website http://www.showdownfishfinder.com/product.html?sku=SDFF check it out. I know if you get one you won't be disappointed.

Bought one last year in the Bargain Cave at Cabela's for $80 - best purchase I made in a long time. Great and easy unit to use.

I bought an Aqua-vu last year, and on the dvd that came with it, had this depth finder on it as an Aqua-vu, and
tooted it up.  Check with them.  The dvd showed it working in real life situation.
