Rising heating oil and gas prices and the likelihood of colder than normal conditions spell trouble for residents in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and Gulf Coast states this winter, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says in a report being issued Wednesday. But warmer than usual conditions are likely in Alaska and the West.

Hey Bean,
Thanks for the link. We are feeling the rise in heating costs already, here in MN. Filled the propane tank in Aug at $1.19/........ not a good sign.

Hope the weather guessers are correct..... could use a little less snow this winter. Got spoiled a couple of winters ago.
Bring on the ice!!!!

The locals in my area are saying that too. Weve had a real high acorn mast this year, and the leaves apper to be greener, and out later this fall. Many believe its natures way of providing food to animals, before a mean winter. I dont mind the cold, the snow we can do less of. We average 90-120 inches of snowfall here per Winter. 2 years ago it was over 200 inches of snowfall for the winter, 53 inches fell from one storm, Presidents day weekend in Feb then. We had a hard freeze last night, pretty ended the growing season here.

If we don't get a terribly cold winter in Colorado, I will not be happy. I want good ice everywhere. And if we don't get at least 150% of average snowpack it will be awful. We are still in terrible drought, though not as bad as in 2002. The mighty Colorado went down to 850 cfs during that year. Right now it's at 4,450, and should be at 7,200 this time of year near the state line.
