You will see a ridge if you go out about 600 yds from the boat launch , this is old ice meeting new ice. No one had ventured out past the ridge on sat. There was good ice (as mentioned ) this side of the ridge but I didn't go over and look at the thickness of the new ice. Fish were biting but no monsters!

Thanks for additional info.  We stay at my buddies camp which is on the same side of the lake as the boat launch maybe 2 miles down the road from the shanty town.  We usually are in 25 +\- feet of water 30-40 yds off their dock / shore.  We have done pretty well in the past with a mixed bag of fish.  But I really enjoy jigging for the cusk at night.  Hopefully we'll be successful.  We'll post info when we get back.  Any other info is always appreciated.

Thanks...

I'd move out a bit farther ,80-90 FOW for lakers ,setting up on the bottom. Also put some shiners 2-3 ft under the ice for salmon !

Well the week end has come and gone.  The weather was pretty cruddy on Friday.  Windy as hell.  We had two flags with no fish.  Friday night we did pretty well on the cusk, 8 between all of us some in the 20" range.  Saturday was nice starting out then the wind was back thought we would loose the portable but she stayed anchored down.  We got 2 lakers all day cookie cutter in size, no keepers.  About 12 flags total, mostly drive bye's.  We were fishing from 2 feet under the ice to about 40 or so feet down.  Jigging was just as slow.  We could see them on the camera but the would just chase around the jiggs not take them.  Ughhh  Was fun though.  Steak strips were great and the beer was cold.  Most of all we weren't working....

Sunday was rough in the morning so we called it a trip early.  Note:  ice was about 8-10" where we were.  Hopefully we'll be up again soon.  Back to NH to do some livin, working and fishing.  Good luck to all this season.
