hats off to the older generation
« on: Jan 27, 2010, 01:40 PM »
just came back from waterbury resvoir.not an exciting day to say the least.but as i was loading my car an older guy approached me and asked how the fishing was.i said it sucked....again.we got talking about smelt, a fish i am just now trying to catch this season.this guy offered to take me to his spot....and we all know how sacred a specific zone can be, and even gave me pointers on how to catch them.thats BIG,and hats off to any older veteran fisherman that offers tips and locations to those of us just starting out.days and weeks can be spent finding holes that have fish, and the 10 minutes spent talking to this guy made up for the last 3 days of crappy fishing.thanks

Its true, there's no substitute for experience.
The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable,
a perpetual series of occasions for hope.
