finding hunting spots in pawlet is all about permission....who you know and who you are related to...period. bird and turkey hunting is pretty easy...deer hunting is tough and bow hunting next to impossible

so whats the best bet up around there? just to go around and talk to the farmers to get permission? why is it so much easier turkey hunting up there. is it because everyone wants to get rid of em?

Because the dairy farmers are so busy planting and cutting corn during turkey hunting...but deer hunting is another story....everyone loves backstrap.
Pawlet gets hard pressure...you are never alone in the woods during deer season. I've got 4 places I hunt....and i stay in those for places....and you really need to know the property lines....THE GRASS IS NOT ALWAYS GREENER....hunting in pawlet comes with issues. I love it and i hate it...this last season sucked for us.

what i have found is if you can get lucky and find a farmer to let you hunt you kind of keep it quite because your lucky to have  the place to hunt alot of the farmers are big deer hunters  and they have just there family hunt there  but yes it is hard to get permission  for deer

ya i'll have to go back up this spring for turkey season, maybe get in good with some of the farmers up there. would be nice to get permission somewhere. ive never seen so many deer in a day hunting in pawlet. it was ridiculous. if you ask farmers for permission to hunt birds will they let you?
