Best set up For Catching Rainbows

What are the best tactics for catching rainbows?? Never ice fished them before gonna give it a try this weekend. Whats the best depth, lures, bait, etc...?? anything helps.

hey upnorth-21 might want to move this to a more general thread don't know how much information you will get with it on the picture postings for me tho i use iceicles right under the ice good luck on catching some

Well I have my best luck using gold/silver jigs favorite is kast master my biggest catch under ice was using raw shrimp pulled up a 28" in four foot of water. My good buddy Dave only uses salmon roe has good luck to but I think it's because he chums his holes exxesivly.we have our rainbow spots figured out we found drop offs in the summer that go between 20 foot dropping 40-50 fow. But some of our bigger ones were 4-15 fow when scouting new spots. Our rule is if we don't catch anything in half an hour move

i run my shiners or nitecrawlers on tipups  just under the ice!  works for salmon too!

I fish swedish pimples in 5-20 FOW just under the ice.  Tipped with maggots or crawlers.
