Fished Geist Res. yeserday for a few hours in the afternoon.  Caught about 8 gills using diamond jigs and waxworms.  Their size was small... ~6-8 inches.  The fish started biting at 4 pm and we got off the ice at 5:30 before the crappie started to bite. 
Nothing caught on the tip-ups :( :tipup:.  The ice was around 5 inches thick wherever we drilled.

I was on the finger pointing directly to the intersection of 86th and Oaklandon. A friend of mine lives on that finger and he let me on the lake. 
Soundslike you are going to have a geat day, ice fishing then a meal with family...its doesnt get any better than that. :)
