new nils help
« on: Dec 30, 2009, 01:16 PM »
took the nils out today and it worked great, until dad used it >:(, then we couldn't get through 4 inches of the hard stuff, he said he didn't put a lot of pressure on it, I think he either bent the blades or the auger shaft it's self, cuz it seems like it will cut through The first inch great, but after that it wants to go around the hole and even then it just kind of spins without cutting, any ideas what the problem may be and or how to fix it, he's thinking about returning it and I don't Want him to  :%$#!:
give me 5 good reasons to head home and I'll pretend to consider it.

From everything I've read on this site about the Nils cutting head is you have to be careful with it. It sounds like you said, that the blades got damaged or bent. Your only solution might be is to get a new cutting head. Fin

ouch, doesn't sound to good. i was using my 8" today with at least 8" of ice with no problems. with the nils there should be little to no pressure at all to cut through the ice. hate to say it but you might need to get a new cutting head, if you do at least you will have a spare that you can get resharpened.
