east fork or casino creek
« on: Dec 24, 2009, 10:15 PM »
I have never fished these lakes but was thinking of making a trip.  I want to catch some perch.  I havent fished for perch since i was a young one.  Was wondering if anyone has been there recently and could give me some insight.  Is one lake better than the other for perch?  What techniques are you using for perch?  I think we used to catch them with jigs and maggotts close to the bottom.  Any info would be apprecitated.

I just fished East Fork yesterday, we started about 9am and fished till 3pm, my dad and I caught 38 perch between us, we were using glow hooks with maggots.  the bite was slow but steady.  We were fishing about the middle of the lake and about 2 feet off the bottom.  I haven't been to Casino Crk yet this year, but my experience has been that it is not as good as east fork, but I have only fished it half a dozen times. Hope that helps!

Theres not much size, but you can occasoinally get a 1 lb, that's the biggest I've seen.

caught a bunch.  about 40.  all pretty small with a few bigger and one about a pound.  action was fast a furious the first few hours.  had to give up fishing two rods cause i couldnt get one baited fast enough befor i had bites on the other.  slowed down around 11am and they were biting really lightly after that.  they were good eating.
