best ideas for homemade folding tables/shelves?
« on: Dec 30, 2009, 01:09 PM »
Finishing up my first permenant shack (see it here http://www.iceshanty.com/ice_fishing/index.php?topic=120468.0 in the AK section)

it will have a bigger table for cooking, but I'm looking for some of your creative ideas for little folding tables to put near the rest of the holes to hold a beer or a flasher or whatever while you fish.

I have to keep it on the cheap so fancy motorhome style folding brackets are nice, but they are not an option. I need the homemade $2 variety (besides the homegrown fixes have more character anyway!)

so please share some pictures or ideas if you have any! thanks

guess I'm just going to go with small hinges holding the shelf to the wall so it will lay down against the wall when not in use.  Then a length of 1x on a hinge below the shelf - tip the shelf up - tip the 1x up till it fits in a pocket on the underside of the shelf

should work ok for most smallish shelf/table set ups I have in mind - as long as the table is hinged solid enough that putting a little weight on an outside corner couldn't 'tip' the table of the 1x support...I think it will be fine I'll try and post a pic if I get one built this weekend
