« on: Mar 03, 2011, 02:40 AM »
i have 2

#1   me and a group of friends were fishing breezy point and it was gusting 70 km... so we decide to put the portibles up behind a coupe stationarys to break the wind.... well after fighting with the tent... we decided to see if any of there huts were open... this really nice wooden shack was there that we cleaned up after we used it,, we left out minnows there in good faith too... anyways 3 of us only 2 can get into this shack.. we me and a friend hop right in.. the other friend decided to use to smaller wooden one with a tarp over it... while he has a bite... the shack literally blows over while hes inside... the door was stuck face down.. so we're laaauughhinngggggg... so took the digital cam out and took a picture the instant he got out of there... priceless... so he jumps into the second one thinkin hes allright 5 mins later... that oone calapsed on him too... i assure you this was no a form of vandalism because i respect the fishermen shack rules and environment beyond comprehension... he was orginally caled paully the perch (caught small fish) but now hes upgraded to "the shack killer"

#2   me and my old man head out to lockport for a couple hours just to see whats going on (ol man dont get out much) so... we bang off a couple smal wallys and a decent chunker 2 1/2-3 pounds and we decide to call it a day... well i got a 10 inch auger... we're packing up all the stuff i throw it into the back of the truck while pops starts it...  all of a sudden he hears this "SPLASH"     my dads thinkin to himself... in the middle of nowhere ice everywhere.. wheres this splash coming from..  well my whole leg went through the hole and it got stuck!!... my dad literally laughed from lockport to transcona... good times

Well, this has probably happened to alot of people, and if I can't laugh at it I might just cry....

Drive out to Chalet or Warner, have your auger not run properly and only punch 2 holes and find out you are in only 4 ft of water, can't move cause auger won't run, leave very early with a disappointed daughter.

Take the auger home, pull the carb off and give it a good cleaning.  Have auger run great in the driveway, test it on a bitterly cold night (last wednesday) and have it run great.  Get some time to head out on Sunday, drive out to Warner, mile and a half out or so  (by yourself so don't want to push your luck getting stuck), and not have your auger run on the ice yet again... fun times I tell ya....  >:(

had a bad stint with karma last year as I bugged my buddy for days about dropping his phone in the hole, not 2 weeks later i leaned over to stoke the fire... SPLASH.  I surely didn't find it too thrilling but dont think i've ever heard my friend laugh so hard for so long.   ;D

Well my first trip was more like a tragedy but i am sure few people had a chuckle looking at us. Me and friend of mine got out on the ice at Delta in my small 2 wheel drive truck. Long story short From 8 AM till 4 PM showing pushing rocking the truck trying to get back to the shore. Some extreme driving through drifts sliding all over the place until royally getting stuck by shore line. Eventually couple of guys helped with their sled to get to the ice road and pulled us through huge snow bank on hard ground. So in one day of "fishing" i shoveled more snow then in last 3 years combined.

Hats off to the guys with the sled.

I must add i am no stranger to driving in deep snow on sand or mud. My truck got me through a lot, but that day I have put is through more that i could ever imagine.  :).

Speaking of.. Heading same way this Sunday, but we are going to walk out this time.

Me and a friend were on a small reservoir lake in Orangeville Ontario. As we were walking on we asked some guys who were leaving if they could recommend a spot for a couple of newbies to this lake. They told us to drill in front of the dam as a starting point.
We thanked them and walked over to the dam area and I started drilling with my hand auger. All was going good until the sand and gravel started coming up the hole  :o
Good joke guys >:(

About 5 years ago me and my dad head out to Lockport, it's the first time we'd been out on the ice in probably 15 years.

We get to the bottom of the hill and I tell pops we should park and walk out since it doesn't look like anyone else is driving on, and there's no one else out either. He looks at me and says "what do ya mean theres a track right there", and points.

I cave to his infinite wisdom and take my old 2wd sierra out. We go maybe 100 yards and the back tires break through the crusty snow, and I know were done.  2 hrs of shoveling, rocking, putting sand down and we haven't moved at all!

Finally pops caves in and walks to A&W and calls a tow truck, hour later were driving back up the hill, haven't done any fishing, and pops says  "were not telling your mother about this one".

Went for lunch and then headed home, we always laugh about it now but it wasn't fun at the time.

Many years ago fishing Birch point, on a very warm day,I see my buddies building a snowman. They were laughing way to hard and for way to long, and since they head cleared the ice for cars back then, some of them slowed down past the snow man too. I finally get curious, and walk around it. It was anatomically correct, and very well hung if I might say so my self, lol.

Years ago we wold fish at netley creek at the mouth. My buddy goes to the store to get a pop etc.We tell him to reel in his line. He looks back, gives us the finger and goes into the store. While he is gone we catch a good size mudpout on his line. So we put it back in the water five feet out. When we starts walking back we scream that he has a bite. He sees his rod lying down on the ground and we tell him to hurry and SET THE HOOK! Fish comes screaming out of the water and smacks him in the mid section. Hilarious!

Fishing pine falls on a boat.  We run out of gas, so this guy in a sweet boat town is back. He had a dog. And a outbord with tolling mother combo. Like I said nice. All controllable from controls at  front of boat. Just as we get close to the dock, we ay least 20 people we watching. The dog decided  to sit on the front controls tilting the 250hp motor out of the water causing a.monsoon of water to well, fill the boat.in seconds. It.was a long wet ride home. Remember to fill up on gas .

I was fishing with a couple of buddies about 20 years ago may long week and one of them caught a beaver trap or a hold trap all rusted up, so we take a look at it and I say be careful it might still be set my buddy assured me that it not. So he throws it down on the floor and we keep fishing. About 3 hours later we are heading back to the dock and one buddy grabs the trap off the floor of the boat and starts fooling around with and saying that we should have this mounted since it was the only thing we caught. He hands it to the guy who caught it and say here hold it and he'll take a picture, I passed the camera and all we heard was snap and the screaming of get it off get it off. I jumped to the front of the boat to help but in the process I knocked my one buddy who was going to take the picture out of the boat. I got the trap off and his fingers stared swelling up so we stuck them it the lake to try and stop the swelling. We helped my other buddy back into the boat and got up to the cabin and dried out. My buddy got lucky and nothing was broke in his hand, but did we laugh that night and we still laugh every may long week like it just happened

Last spring I packed up and drove to Albany for another striper trip.
Meet my friend at the club we drink. I tell him I can drink at home let's fish.
So we head out hit the store for food and beer up the creek get bait out to the river.
Fish a while friend gets one small one. The wind picks and we decide to go and stay at an old fishing camp the club owned.
Set up camp get a fire going it gets dark and it's cold like 20's cold.
It snow's an inch by the next morning and it's nasty sleet rain high wind. We wake up run to the creek get more bait fish till noon no fish.
So we head to the camp for lunch By the time we were done eating there are 4ft rollers and they are coming over the back of the boat it fills to the top in seconds.
17ft bass boat full of water it is no longer floating so we bail for the next 2hrs finally get it 3/4 of the way empty I say hey lets just get it on plain and pull the plug.
So he hits the gas and the boat stood up and it filled to the top in seconds sinks in 4fow we pulled it up to shore bailed 2 more hrs and got her set so it's not going to take on any more water. I'm done fishing soaked to the bone and freezing We stay at the camp again I told him I need to be home early because it's mothers day Sunday. No problem he has to get back early too. We get up at 7 and the tide is out Way out we didn't leave there till 1:00. But in all I had a good time 3 of us in 2 nights drank 3 30 racks and a bottle of scotch we also ate 60 hotdogs. To this day I still refuse to eat a hotdog.

last year I took my then 4 year old daughter out to the locks and was hitting nonstop sauger, she even brought up about 6 or 7 all on her own.  Then my dad came out with his heavy duty lifted 4x4 and got his limit in keepers, so after about 2h we decide to head out to CBR and try our luck for some nice eyes (because we had 2 trucks and can help each other if one gets stuck).  Well as we went down the single track trail we pulled over for another truck and dad got hung up with his truck half in the snow on the edge and the other half spinning on the ice from the track. After abit of trying to rock back and forth the truck finally made it's way down the edge of the dike (still leaning towards the passanger side).  At this pint he could go forward and back but could not get back up on the trail.  While we hook up the winch to my Dakota and pull, no luck.  We try a few other ways with no luck.  Then I go to back up down the way and not paying attention I go right up to the other edge get stuck and almost flip the truck off a hairy 3 foot edge (too close a call even to try pulling out on a sharp angle).  After about 2h from dads truck getting stuck mine is out and his is still in.  Another 2h and alot of attempts from lots of helpers including another oversized Power Wagon and still having my 4 year old waiting for us in my truck, we finally go back to Winnipeg and come back out in the dark with a tow truck.  Picked the front of the truck up in the air, hooked the truck winch to the tow truck then both pulled with the tow truck and drove with the stuck truck while pulling with the winch and with the front about 3 feet in the air going up the side of the dike and we were out.  All in all a really good day of fishing turned into just over 10h of working to get a truck out.

The next weekend we went back out there but went on the lake at matlock and caught just the fish we were looking for the first time.
