well for starters you could try harris bay the place is always packed but you can catch lakers there and pech but you'll have to work for the perch oh and make sure you get there early in the am cause parking is limited

Million Dollar beach is another popular spot. You can hit a bed of weeds for perch and have your tipups in 50+ fow for lakers within eyesight. If you do what jon ct/ny says it's a guarantee. You'll catch lake trout. I have good luck with an 8# flourocarbon leader, size 8 hook.

Mikey666,
Welcome to Ice Shanty. I have never fished Lake George but have a few suggestions.
 1. When fishing for lake trout fish the whole water column in the winter the water temperature is almost the same from top to bottom. So the lakers can be at any depth.
 2. Stop in Fish 307 0n route 9 in Lake George besides having the gear you need they should be able to give you some pointers and information on locations to check out.
  3. Once the lake has safe ice try to hook up with some fellow Ice Shanty members for a day on the ice.
  Have a great ice season.
  Steve

I was born and raised in GF and live in HF. I would never mind some extra company. The best thing you can do is talk to people. Especially OLD people on the ice. I've learned a lot just talking to people either on the ice or launching spot.

No problem at all. That's why were here. When the lake actually freezes up there will be a flood of info on here. You can even go as far as digging through all of last years stuff on here to set yourself up ahead of time. Lake George reports and conditions will have everything you need to know in it, if it hasn't been reset for the year yet.

Also worth mentioning. Most of my lakers were caught on a rock hump that I found that came to less that 6 fow. I could look down the hole and make sure my sucker wasn't in the rocks. You don't necessarily need deep water to find them.
