Will a One Man Portable Fit In Car
« on: Oct 18, 2009, 08:33 PM »
I am looking to get a one man flip over style shanty this year but the one question I have is will it fit in the trunk of a car. Or would it fit in the backseat? Looking at buying a scout that someone will sell to me.

I'd bet it would. I just bought a Fish Trap Pro, I don't think it would fit in the trunk of my girlfriends Grand Am, but it certainly would fit in the back seat, tipped up on edge.
A bad day of fishing beats anything else I'd be doing today.....

I can close the trunk in my lumina with the scout in it. I can get it in the trunk of my Cavalier with the lid tied down on the trunk.

Good point. Would it fit in a Kia Spectra or a Hyundai Elantra?

I have been checking out the Prius, looks like the Pro will fit very nicely. Still comparing the cost:mileage ratio between other vehicles???

I had a 1971 Buick Electra 225 w/ a 455cid in it. We took the trunk lid off and threw a luvseat in the trunk. I could and often did fit 12 people in the car for trips to the Drive-in movies. Watta tank! I know I`m aging myself abit with the Drive in movie thing. You show up on the ice with that boat and the party is on! Who needs a portable? Cut holes in the floor and put trap doors on em! " Reel in ,shut yer trap doors boys, we are off to the next hotspot!"

My 1969 Impala had a trunk So big I could put a Honda ct-70 in it and close the lid. I use a 12 pass Chev van Now to haul all of my gear and friends and family. I would not be without it. I bought it just for ice fishing, but don't tell the wife. Use a tape measure and check your openings. You can also, ask your friends, to use theirs and see if you can get one in the car! ;D

My gramps always had  ford wagons when i was a  growing up ... ford country squire was the original suv in my mind ... we actually put 5 dead  deer in there once ... an exceptional opening day ... with the current gas prices i parked my dodge ram and picked up a mercury sable wagon ... easily fits my pro  and gear inside and with the luggage rack i have put my buds scout on top for trips to sodus bay .

I hauled a oneman in the front seat of my wifes Lesabre once. She wasnt very happy at first but when we got to my inlaws she laughed at their faces. She did request I put it in the trunk after that.

A 455? I had a 78 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser with a 403 that went like a space shuttle. Started slow but once it got rolling, wow. I settled a bet once with a kid that had a Bonnevlle SSEI. He thought his car was fast. He told his friends he felt like a fencepost I went by him so fast. He told me he saw my headlights coming behind him. He looked at the road. When he looked back in the rearview the headlights were gone and I was beside him. In a one mile race I could never compete but it was 16 miles and he was outclassed.
Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.
