Massabesic Stocking for 2008
« on: Mar 16, 2009, 03:19 PM »
I am impressed that F&G but all most 4500 trout in Maasy last year. I would say it may be a great spring.

Most of the time you may see a few trolling the lake in early spring, having  an erratic bottom like Massy I think most feel its not worth getting hung up trolling deeper in warmer weather. I may be a nut but I enjoy fishing Massy year round, I think one of these days a real nice fish will come out of there.

KEEP IN MIND MOST IF NOT ALL OF THOSE BROOKIES GO INTO SUCKER BROOK not to say some don't make it into the lake..

Hey Thumber,
What are the restrictions for boats on Massabesic?
I know they dont let ATV's on it in the winter, or sleds if im not mistaken, but what about boats? Can i put my 21foot trophy out on it with a 120hp motor? Do they have HPO restrictions?

Thanks!

I believe the only restriction is that I have to be in the boat with you!

You seem to really have the place figured out, and I hear ya about getting drawn back to certain places.. ;D
I've been meaning to try trolling Massi a bit more, I wouldn't doubt there are some nice ones in there ;)

Thanks for the info!!!

As soon as the ice is gone I'll be out on it, seeing as though I live about 10 minutes from there.

I am not into the bass but have run into them often, years back we thats all we fished for on the lake, if your onto bass try around the Grapes, Sheeps Nose (rock pile) on the village side you got School House Rock, Ladies Is. and Loon Is

I ordered my new East Premium chip for my Nav Unit, it supposedly has Massabesic in there and in good detail. I am looking forward to checking it out. I have never been a big bass fan, I will go for them when I am fishing with my kids though. So if its a good lake for them, we will certainly hit it. Espacilly with it being so close its easy if they start acting up or having a bad day, mom can just come and pick them up :-) Unlike if I drag them up to Newfound, Winni or out the mouth of the Mack. Much longer rides to deal with kids when they are having bad days.

Again I appreciate the good info!

Its the one my RayMarine Navigation system uses.

If im not mistake Navionics is the leader in these maps...if anyone else has other opinions I guess I would like to hear them. My Nav unit came pre-installed with Navionics silver Charts and Maps. The East Premium chip is for the freshwater lakes and rivers.

I am a big user of Navionics as well, I think they are the most detailed and accurate GPS maps around. I use them in my Garmin and have nothing but great things to say about them.

I actually need to pick up another chart for freshwater fishing. My chart is from Canada down to NJ for ocean only......

hey man be really carefull out there if you dont know the lake, especially with that hog, there are alot of rocks and sandbars in massy some people call it rockabesic lol also keep in mind you cant just hop in the water without waders, long boots, etc for loading and unloading and alot of the ramps might suck with a boat that size
