Crappie Misunderstanding????
« on: Dec 08, 2010, 05:14 AM »
well guys im an avid outdoorsmen with all the products needed to be successful and i have an average success rate... have spent more time over the years fishing calico and trying to understand the species more do to the fact they are more of a challange right now to me... im going to lay off the perch fishing this year and consentrate on calico and walleye.... first of all i spend a lot of time fishing them at nite and never fish for walleye at the same time... do the walleye bite good at nite?....if so tip-ups or jigging....  secondly, do these fish travel in schools at nite like in the fall and spring and pod up or do they spread out more... i fish shallow at nite and can never find them deep during the day... do they move to deeper water or do they just stop feeding?... any information on personal experiences would be great... drives me nuts not understanding their pattern under the ice....
" There is a road, no simple highway, between the dawn and dark of night, And if you go no one may follow, That path is for your steps alone.  Ripple in still water,When there is no pebble tossed,Nor wind to blow.  You who choose to lead must follow, But if you fall you fall alone, If you stand then who's to guide you? If I knew the way then I would take you home."  Robert Hunter & Jerry Garcia

I did well on the Crappie by lantern last year. This year I'm altering my strategy to put 3 tip ups with reflective tape way out on the periphery for Walleye.  Don't know how well it will work....but hey....even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and again.
