My first choice is one of my own of course...lol
here's some of the handles I make, I usually make them on a custom tapered glass blank.

My second choice is a Greg Austin custom rod.

As for factory rods, I love the Frabill Bro Series in a quicktip for perch and a micro lite for panfish.

I fish with St. Croix premier's. Great rods for the money. But just recently I splurged and bought a St.Croix spring bobber rod. That's one incredible ice rod. It was 50 bucks but worth it I think. Glad I got a gift card for X mas !! The Jason Mitchell rods look real nice also. Wouldn't mind trying one.

Found some Frabil Amplifiers at a salvage store ($5 each). Like them better than the $50 St Croix Legend I bought last year.

I build custom rods used in new york "crazyEYEvan" custom rods. Have build 36 to 39" walleye rods, solid tapered glass. Will build any size desired. Glass has a nice feel to them. Have built a few carbon rods, like the glass better.

I use a Jig-A-Whopper with the real lite tip. It so sensitive you don't need a spring bobber except for the lightest of the light bites. Just picked up another one 15% off at Mills Fleet Farm

St Croix Legend with a Mitchell 310Xe.  I've got a few, each with a different action.  I love the Legend.  I don't even bother spending money on any thing else.

I couldn't be happier with the Mitchell 310Xe.

I love the graphite body and rubberized coating.  It's warm and easy to grip.

Pairing the 2 make the perfect combination for me.

build your own...it seems like all the rods I find are too short for the way we fish...I get some high quality long glass blanks, and make the rod to fit the person using it...

i have an ugly stik ultra lite rod that works perfectly for panfish-no spring bobber needed. for 30 bucks, its well worth the price, plus the butt of the rod is cork ;D

although i don't feel the st. croix legend is needed so much as a spring bobber itself. i got four legends and there is no turning back.  i feel i catch more fish because of the legend. that spring bobber shows bites that you couldn't possibly feel. they wouldn't be what they are if you couldn't tune the bobber for the lure weight.
