Ask at a tire shop. Might save the discarded bits they use to balance tires for you.

I get mine from the local roofing company. It comes from the old lead roof revent plumbing stacks when they replace old roofs. It's good lead also with no other metals. Check with someone who roofs in your area I'm sure they would save you some of them.

I do alot of trout fishing and use 2lb test line. That steel crap has a habit of cutting through my mono. and if it cuts through light line it also must nic or cut into heavier line. So I only use lead now....

I used to buy sinkers, but I also wreck fish using up to 14 ounces,at 65cents an ounce it's rediculous to buy them when I could make them for a fraction of that.

I've got lead sinker molds that I've bought or been given through the years. I make alot of weights through the winter months and use some, sell some. I can make weights from 1/8 ounce to 8 ounces in varying shapes. It's a relaxing little hobby when it's -10 and the winds howlin', start the woodburner in the shop, a little bluegrass music, good cigar and I'm a weight makin' fool. I actually come out ahead $ wise when I'm done, can't beat that! Make sure and ventilate as the lead fumes are wicked.
