Ketchup and grease instead of catch and release

What do you mean setting it up?  I built 2 last winter and they are a blast.  What specifically is the problem?

Adjust the distance between the rod holder and the upright trigger.  If I remember correctly, you need to make the distance between the two slightly shorter.  How long of a fishing rod are you using?

make sure you also bend the first eyelit down from the tip so that it is able to get a purchase on the key ring otherwise you will never get it set.

extend the slammer so the trap is about half of its possible length. them set the rod holder in the one with the least angle (15degrees?) and bend that first eyelit down from tip back and in against the rod some what so that it can get a good purchase when you place it up against the key ring.

I use it for everything.  My first time out I caught a 4lb largemouth on 8 lb test line and a #4 shiner hook.  Kept that same set up when I went to Moosehead and caught 7 togue with it.  One of the fish bit before I could even get the trap set...had just let the line out and was placing the rod in the rod holder and bang a 2 lb togue was making the tip dance!!!.  Lots of fun.  I set the trap several times in my living room before going out on the ice with it.  Also a word of advice.  DO NOT stand facing the front of the trap/rod; its a good way to catch the rod tip in the face if it trips before you step away.  Always face the long side of the trap when setting it up.  Hope this helps!!

You can always call the office, send me an email, or a PM here if you're having any difficulties setting up your Slammer Tip-Up

I set the trap several times in my living room before going out on the ice with it.

A good idea for getting close, but things will bend and flex differently with the change in temperature. I found this out the hard way with prototypes built in the shop (at room temperature) and then taken out on the ice with frigid temps. Be sure to check your release and do a little fine tuning if necessary ON THE ICE after your gear has become acclimated to the cold.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
