Guess I have to put in the time on Copake...
« on: Feb 02, 2009, 11:43 AM »
I was told to fish Copake because it was a great panfish lake and would be fun for the kids.  What a let down.  Was there from noon on. Jigged with differents jigs, mousies and spikes.  Had minnows on the ups and only 1 dink perch to small to keep.  What gives?  I thought I could go there "fill me bucket" and leave.  Think I got some bad info.  Bummer.  Guess I'll never get and panfish to eat.  Could I have been doing something that wrong  ???

Try Huns Lake in Standvordville, have to look for them, but they are there. Smaller lake easier to locate, caught 20 perch in 2 hours Sunday. ALOT OF SLUSH and Water on top of ice

Thanks Flint I may try that tomorrow.  I just would like to fing a good spot for the kids you know?  I want them hooked, latley when they go they are off somewhere exploring due to the lack of excitement.  I just want them to have fun and good memories to push them on with their own kids someday.  Any tips on the typof bait you were giving them?

There is one spot at the y in the road by the lake at the North End , people park there and go on the lake, maybe rooms for 3 cars. Thin I was using small minnows on the tip ups , and jigging with swedish pimples, with a spike or mousie.

I parked at the public parking area and started out on the right about 200 yards out and moved three times ending up towards the main rd, 7 I think.  I fished from 10 feet to approx 7 feet.  Nothing  ???  Is there another access on the west side of the lake?

Yes you were definatly in the wrong spot.I told you about the lake and I did not misinfom you.I would not due that.I was there on fri. and sat.Unfortunatly for you you got there when the bite was shut off even in the good spots. It was the strangest thing the fish bit all morning and shut off from about 12:00 till dark.Even the magic sunset hour did not pan off.Believe don't give up on Copake, We filled 5 gallon pails half way both times.P.M. me next time you go I will meet you there and we can try our best. :)I truly am sorry you had a bad time expecially for the kids.

The fishing has slowed there. It seems to be getting alot more pressure that last year. I saw the NJ crew there both days anyword on how they did? They were in the on the small end of the lake on Sunday as well. I was at Synder pond  two weeks ago and hit the crappies pretty good.

Flint I will def. be in touch.  As for the moment, I'm focused on getting ready for the Northern Challenge in Tupper Lake this Saturday.  Can't wait to get into some bigger fish again.  I miss living in the ADK's!  Sooo many great spots to fish through the ice and in the summer as well.

my buddy lives in the hunns lake apartments and we fished the snot out of the northern end of that lake and 3-5 guys over two weekends we caught two perch and a bass. the only other people I saw were in the middle where it "necks down" should that be more where we should be looking?
FISH ON!!
