Pete Lake is a little slow
« on: Jan 03, 2009, 09:48 PM »
Finally got into some fish today. My wife Cheryl caught this one.

She was rubbing it in really hard cause I hadn't caught one yet then just a half an hour before we left I got into this one.

By the looks of the fin clippings these fish are the blackwater strain and were stocked 2007-05-02.

Hey Nice Fish Mr.& Mrs., Pete lk looks like the south end of another lk I seen ya at. Bill sounds like you do your homework before fishing a lake. Those bad boys look like they would not come in without a good fight. Looks very cold but hear a tent comes in handy. Tight lines Yahoo fish on!

No it's really Pete Lake ;)
Yeah, I like to learn as much as possible about the fish I'm catchin and the lake I'm catchin them in. Since we got a Bradly Smoker for Christmas we kept these fish to smoke. When I was gutting these fish I found in the female stomach it was packed with those red little shrimp (size of a grain of pepper) and in the male fish it must of had at least 500-600 scuds in it. I was wondering if this is the reason why some fish are darker than others and why some fish taste good and some fish taste like a potato.(muddy taste)
The tent was nice for getting out of the wind and was quite comfortable with the heater on in there.

She kicked my butt at hunting this year but I think I'm beating her at fishin so far but you never know what may happen by the end of the fishin season.
Tight lines!!! :icefish:
