GOT BAIT?

I DO NOW......was out coyote hunting on the 24th and found a beaver pond.....decided to set a trap since I had it with me.....went back today and found 2 dozen shiners in my trap....MAN AM I PUMPED....FREE BAIT!!!!  Decided to set an additional trap and had to chisel through 6-8 inches of ice....

Sure is....I still haven't checked my Private Ponds I stocked last year.....need to get some more riggin for my traps.....

I stopped trapping about a week ago, until I get some ice here on the coast.. I am so excited and cant wait to use FREE bait also!! Simmy

I know its a private pond on private property, a home made dug pond, with no inlet and outlet.
but worry about yourself there chummy

# 6 hooks with cheesits and 10 # test line  works well........

Don't forget to label your traps with name and # the wardens do take them......... I use a square of plastic milk  jug  w/ small hole and a wire tie marked with a sharpie

 It's great to go fishing and not run to the bait shop every time. Your more apt to go fishing when you have your own bait. You can always say to your friends, I'll bring the bait ,you bring the beer... 8)

GasBlaster....that is a BIG ONE....i can get some that big too....but I wont need any till I go Pike fishin......so I'll open the trap holes and let them in.....

Smelt is the best I think......Went up there last year for the first time....of course only 2 traps.....but managed to get 3 salmon....GREAT DAY I thought.....Come on up......the more the merrier.....

its great getting your own bait. dont know if i save much, but i like the entertainment of doing it and the conveniance of having it in my garage.
