Nice country down there in your area.  I used to fish Broadheads and Mt. Spring Lake quite a bit.

As far as the ice goes up here, I have fished with a half hour of Augusta already.  The smaller ponds had 6-9" of ice as of 12/14.  I haven't checked the bigger, deeper lakes in the area like Minnehonk, Maranacook, etc.  There should be some fishable ice for Jan. 1.  But the weather and temps have been all over the place.  I may do some checking this weekend. If I do, I'll let you know.

Thankyou for the info . I will check minnihonk  on the 2nd. I grew up on minnihonk and parker pond. I now live on the broudheads. If you ever want to go fly  fining here , I can hook you up.

Wow.  Nice creek to live on!  Thanks for the offer.

I'll let you know if I have any new ice thicknesses to report.  It was 5 degrees in the area this morning.

I live just south of agusta and fished the large sabatus lake and a small part of the dacomas and was fishing 5 inches of ice and the rivers are freezing up solid as well so  you should be all set for most of the area lakes

Checked the ice on some bigger, deeper water this morning.  Cut test holes on Maranacook in Winthrop.  There was 11" of ice over 5 feet of water.  This decreased rapidly over deeper water.  There was 5" of ice over 15-20 feet of water and about 3" over 25 feet of water.  Over the deeper water, there was about 1" of white ice included in the total thickness.  I didn't venture any deeper than 25 feet.  Beyond that, the ice didn't look inviting.

We need a good cold snap, Jim. Can't wait to fish Minnehonk and Maranacook.

They are fishable now in shallow, but togue options would be limited, Nick.  I'm not sure that cold snap is coming any time soon though.
