well how many people will be fishing in it?
how will you heat it?
do you want most comforts of home, IE stereo, lights, comfy seats, table maybe a stripper pole?
how will you get it to the lake?
go to taxidermy, mount it on the wall

Mine is a smaller one. 4x8' Seat about three.
It's really all up to you. Looking to have parties? Then maybe something 8x8' would be best. Just for a couple people? Then 4x8'. The more space you have, the more comforts you can have. Bad things about bigger shacks is that obviously they are more expensive, but also harder to heat and the weight is a PITA to move it around. Before you even start building, know exactly how you will move it.

Tell us what you want to do or take a look through the shanty topics and see what people have.

The best one I had was5x8 . one sheet of plywood for the floor and the extra foot is for the holes.

Frame with 2x2s cover with what you want. I mount the skis on the back and just flip it over that way it sits flat on the ice. Just my opinion. Good luck.

We are building one that is 6.5 by 12 or something like that, but there will be three or more people always in there including a little six year old that can t sit on his butt to save his life

Mine is a 6' x 8' and usualy 2 guys fishing in it, sometimes 3. The next time I might bake it 8x8 just to have a bit more room. Its heated with a wood stove so that keeps it nice in there and its not insulated. Plywood floor with 4 holes and a plywood roof with aluminum frameing and alumium walls...really light but works awesome!
