checked ice this morning...seemed okay...about 6 inches....didn't try to venture out to what was open last weekend....someone walked right over it....enden up losing my cell phone down a hole.  :-[ since it's really local (5 minutes from my house)...i'll save it for some really bad weather....
as for fish...got into a lot of 10" gills last winter, and a few really nice perch....for some strange reason tho' i'm the only one around here that can't seem to get into the crappies there tho'....but there is a HUGE year class of 11"ers in there so i'm hoping this will be the year.

Oh don't worry.  I live in Webster too and can't only think of about three crappies that I have ever caught out of there hard water or soft.  Where did you check the ice at?  Is the north finger frozen?

well i fished Briggs today and the ice is around 11in but i talked to a couple people and they said the north west side was open three days ago. i didn't check the thickness out in that area. i fished off the point and had lots of bites but never got one up my hole. thinking they were small and not taking the hook.

Thanks for the report.  I am hoping to make it out there sometime this weekend or early next week.  I think I am going to hit Brushy tomorrow night.

Thanks Perch,I was only going to spend a night and a day in the Clear Lake area on my way up to Tower,MN,but I might have to look at maybe a two day stay instead,I will be driving up from Oklahoma the last part of this month or the first part of Jan.
