dumb perch

When i was out splake fishing last weekend i was using 3-4in blues on a treble hook and all i was getting was little nibbles(perch). i would relocate but there are perch in every hole, plus there where 3 other shantys within 20 yards of me and they where having success. how do i keep the perch away from my bait? Other that waiting till dark when the perch dont bite.

i was using a big spoon with about a 8 inch smelt incase a pike came buy when i was fishing for perch and i dropped the cam down there to see if anything was around and the only hting there was about 6 tiny perch eating the smelt bit buy bit i left it hoping i big pike would see the dumb perch and come for my smlet but they didnt

If you can find me a perch that can take a 2# whitefish, I'll take the perch................. ..should be a mess O good eating on a 10# plus Perch!!!!!

I suggest you jig, under these circumstances, for perch. Then, pop their eyes out, rebait with the eyes on a rapalla or sweedish pimple & say a little prayer! You should get a few walleys if they are around. You could also put any small perch back on your tip ups (if you use them). They are good bait for just about anything else, as they are natural food for that lake. I have gotten bigger perch, pike, pickeral, walleys and trout that way. Just remember to count the perch in your take for the day. If they won't stay away, use 'em. That'll teach 'em!
