Frabill classic wood tip-ups model 1664
« on: Dec 24, 2008, 05:49 PM »
Anyone use these? I got one for my B-Day the other day. Looks like a nice tip-up, can't wait to get it wet. I've got a few other tip-ups, 2 thermals and a windlass, but haven't used this style. Apperantly the shaft is sealed and protected w/0 deg. lube.
Any opinions/comments?

I have a beaver dam and i'ts the same design. very good tip-up, you will need a hole cover for when it's really cold, below 20

It's really good and I would buy them if you don't want to spend the moolah for Beaver Dams!I have a couple BDs and one Frabill. The Frabill works just as well and it actually has features that I wish the BDs had. (The rubber on the flag pole, and handle, also the pegs that come off the spool for winding your line.) The build quality isn't the greatest. Mine had a bent shaft right out of the box. Not enough to send it back though. The lube is great and hasn't bound up at all. I haven't used it under 10 degrees, and you couldn't make me either  ;D Definitely get those foamy hole covers too.
