Outdoor Canada Ice Fishing Issue
« on: Dec 06, 2008, 01:58 PM »
Anyone pick up the Outdoor Canada ice fishing issue? I was a little disapointed myself, most the gear they talked about was seasons old. The Articles were so/so...the one article was about Quick-Strike rigs and there was no mention that they are illegal in Ontario (the version they talk about has two treble hooks)

All in all I was disapointed in the magazine, considering Pyzer wrote alot of it, I guess he leaves his good stuff for IF magazine

I haven't read an outdoor Canada in a long time. I prefer Ontario Out of Doors myself.
I like most of Gord's material. I haven't seen any recent In-fisherman mags lately so I haven't read any of his stuff in that. I do watch him on the In-fisherman Ice fishing guide though. I gotta get a furry hat like hit...looks warm

I find both those magazines to be nothing but spokespeople for the advertisers.
Every time they do a review of a product it is like reading ad copy.
Why bother ???
I do enjoy the "In Fisherman" ice fishing special. Seems they offer up a more rounded read. I got some nice recipes from them over the years.
Later,
Glen

I did the dumbest thing...i saw it on the shelf and thought it would be a great read for the night shift...only to be phoned 5 mins later to be told by my wife an ice fishing magazine was in our mailbox...lol...the very same one i just spent close to $6 i think....i forgot my wife had received a free subscription to it for doing some work at the PWT this summer....duh!

Anyway...after looking at it and seeing the same old tackle which i probably dont need or wouldn't use...i found it kind of bland. Still a good read...and i probably would spend $6 again when the free stuff runs out.........and will probably be left feeling somewhat neutral after reading it cover to cover....but it beats reading the Dryden Observer!!
