Weare Reservoir, (Lake Horace)
« on: Dec 04, 2008, 09:19 AM »
Does anyone have any information on Weare Reservoir, (Lake Horace) in Weare, NH? What species of fish and where to fish would be helpfull? I have a Time Share in the area and would like to use it for ice fishing this year. Any information would be appreciated, I am not familiar with the area.

NHF&G website says it has brown trout, largemouth and smallmouth bass, pickerel, hornpout, and black crappies. I have never fished it, so I wouldn't know for sure. Maybe someone on the NH board can give you more help.

Hi,

I live at the lake and fish it all the time.  The fish and game book is right.  There is brown trout, bass, perch, sunfish, pickeral, crappie, and hornpout.  I have caught all of the above at one point or another.  If you see a big guy on a snowmobile out there its probably me come over and say HI!

there was a big debate last winter about horace lake on the fourum.
points of complaints were ,state stocked, no public parking or access point , locals calling cops for parking on the side of the road and jupming the bank to fish."and them showing up"

burgerunh , welcome to iceshanty,  catch many fish there? any black crappie ?

Here's a link courtesy of NH F&G. It's a bathy map of the Weare Resevoir. It gives you access roads and depths for that body of water.

Perhaps this may help......

I live in Goffstown, NH (right next door) but have never fished there before. I've only been there once. I don't know much about that place.

this is the second time for this topic and we don't even have ice yet lol... i've fished it and it holds some nice crappie pikeral perch brookies browns and a few other warm water species i've done well with browns in years past..fished it last year and had a pretty slow day only a few small perch and one real nice crappie.. access is tough pretty much land locked theres a town beech where residents can park not really sure about any public access other than that though

Public access is through the towns park. However it is closed in the winter (i think). And like $25 for non res for 8-5 access during the summer months). Yes, one of those places that the town of Weare is not all that welcoming with. F&G should not be stocking it - that is just wrong IMO.

There are no fish in Gorham  pond so don't even go there. :)

so when are we loading up to gorham pond........the place must just be like mirror lake......there are no fish in there as well.........
when chuck norris played golf for money, chuck marked down a hole in zero every time, the golf pro said, "chuck: you can't score zero on a hole." Chuck norris turned towards the man and said, "I'm chuck norris, the man proceeded to pour gas over his body and set himself on fire because that would be less painful than getting roundhouse kicked by chuck norris....chuck norris roundhouse kicked him in the face anyways

I was going to go there tomorrow to see what the conditions were like and fire up the auger. Might even jig a little. (even though there are no fish there).  ;)
