Repairing an ice shelter-need advice
« on: Jan 25, 2004, 05:26 PM »
 ???
Hi-was wondering how to/what to use to repair an ice-shelter made of polypropylene (tent material, tarp??). Will duck tape hold out-or what to use?

Thanks,

That duct tapa will last longer if you use spray glue first.

I have had good luck by getting some material close to what you have and patching both sides with contact cement. Use directions from glue and apply the material. It seems to hold up to the flexing and cold better than the tape. Good luck.

I just ripped my my trap last weekend with my auger...about a 3 inch tear...I live close by to Eureka tent company...I bought a canvas repair kit for $6...the trick is to hand sew the rip first then patch both sides...You must have a place to buy tents there...and they must sell tent repair kits..that would be your best bet...

i have 3 suggestions
1)try a tent patch kit
2) try to iron on a patch for both sides
3) try duct tape on both sides, then heat the tape up with a heat gun so it will hold better,it will form like one big patch
also try to contact the company for a repair kit
Pain is temporary, trophies last forever
