floor in Clam 2000
« on: Jan 25, 2004, 05:41 PM »
I was wondering if any one with a Clam 2ooo has instaled a floor in the shack.  I cracked mine and would like to put a 1/4" layer of plywood down to put less pressure on the plastice base of the shack.  ANy help would be great.  Thanks.

I havent had a need to do anything like that for my Clam 5600, but i would almost imagime that using an adhesive silicone caulk would work great. Even better, there is a brand of adhesive caulk named "Lexan" that in all of my experiences hold well in all conditions (better than just plain silicone). I might check into either one of those 2 a little more.

Northwoods:how long have you had the 2000? I just bought one and have not used it yet-on the general discussion page a guy reported his clam 2000 is new-floor cracked and the center pole broke; I HOPE THIS IS NOT A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS SHELTER.

Well I have had the Clam for about a month and am a little disappointed with the floor.  The rest of the shack is great.  Like i stated before i made a sub floor out of plywood and that made the floor much nicer and stronger.  I have decided that in the future i will have to build a new base for it out of wood, but i think that the factory floor will last a few years.  I got the shack for $120 at Walmart and just could not pass up the deal.  Hope this helps.
