the best thing you could do is contact your local DNR...........I know that here in Minnesota as long as the child is under 16 yrs of age they don't need a fishing license and that means extra lines to fish with ;D

My son is six and coming for the first time this year. He's allowed 5 traps as well. I see that as double the fishing for me!

I'm pretty sure he is allowed 5 as well.....the only stipulation for a minor is that he doesn't need a license...other than that the same rules apply
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and then beat you on experience

Only thing to keep in mind though is don't exceed YOUR personal limit. In Penna. I was told how a fish warden was sitting in the parking lot "glassing" a group at a local pond. He recorded as the fisherman and his young children caught fish. Well, the dad caught more than his limit of five and claimed his boys caught some. The warden actually had the time's recorded for each of the fish the dad caught including those beyond his own legal five trout. Needless to say he got fined. Not a very good way to set an example for the youngins'. And I don't want to insinuate any of you would do that, I'm just relaying a particular incident that took place. As others stated, your children don't need a license (under 16) and they are legally able to keep their own limit of fish that they catch. When we're out we even keep our catches separate of each other. Hope this helps.   Lou

remember that little kids don't last too long out there, and you will probably have a short day. he will last longer if he has fun, but can go home when he is bored or cold.
