Cold-Snap Gear by Vexilar
« on: Oct 19, 2007, 01:54 PM »
Just curious if anyone on here purchased the Cold-Snap gear from Vexilar last season and had any comments on how they worked out for ya on the ice. I purchaced the coveralls last year, got to use them, but it was a warmer winter. I didn't get the parka cause I had something already, but I am thinking about getting it for this winter to go along with my coveralls.
Thanks
Schmidty

I got the overalls first, and then talked the wife into buying me the Parka for X-mas. They sent me a Med. by mistake, I'm usually  a L; but after my first outraged, and sure to be censored remarks, I tried it on and found it to be a comfortable cut. Worked fine, lots of pockets, the interior security pocket is good for keys. All in all, I'm quite happy with mine, though it was a pretty mild winter. The most negative comment I have is the Vex name splashed all over the place.

I know Lobes, Killitandgrillit, and esox13 posted that they got these suits last year. You could PM them the question.

I bought both the parka and bibs last year. I'm very happy with the purchase. Kept me warm and dry. May not be as good as the blue suits but for less money they kept me comfortable.
Just waiting for the hardwater.

I'm still very impressed with the Vexilar suit. There was a problem with one of the snaps on the parka and they delivered a new one BEFORE I returned the original. Now that's what I call customer service!
They are well worth the money.

does it float?  i think the most impressive thing about the IDI gear is it floats!! not much price difference but could be a big life difference if you go through!

No it does NOT float.  But when I'm fishing 30" of ice, why would I need a floating suit???  For the 1 to 2 weeks that I'm fishing early & late ice, I'll just wear a life vest rather than wear a floating suit....

I too am thinking about pulling the trigger on a Vex suit...for one reason...I am short.  5'7" with a 29 inseam (yeah, I've got stumps for legs  ;)).  The Ice Armor and Arctic Armor suits have 32" inseams, and the vex suit comes in a 31" inseam.

I used mine all last season and really liked it. There are more pockets than you know what to do with and with the extra material in the knee area it's nice for mobility and flexability.
