Yeah....its really heating up. I caught 4 eyes yesterday in a small creek in Ohio. I left with 3 but a buddy took home a limit. Long rods are stowed in my car for the next 2 months.

I got this off the indiana info site.  This was caught at Oakdale, one of a few this guy has caught while walleye fishing

Unless they are swimming upstream from a stocking site I'm not familiar with, they have to be coming from an upstream lake stocking.  Fish can swim a long way.

Here is a pic of my walleye from norway last sunday.

Tried again today but they had the gate open more and the water was high. We were the only ones there and had no bites.

Tried again today 3/20 for while. It was a nice day to be out and the dam wasn't crowded.
I seen a guy catch maybe a 2 1/2 lb walleye and nothing else.
The water was about a foot lower than yesterday but that's all going to change with the rain coming tomorrow.
My guess is this weekends fishing will be slow if they open the gates any more than they already are.
We also checked out Oakdale and the gates are opened some and water is up but still looks fishable.

I'm sixty years old now. I live close to norway damn. I've been fishing there since i was about six years old. I have never known of any Musky being caught there. There has been an accasional northern pike caught there. Usually when one is caught is is a nice fish. The Walleye fishing can be good but most of the area they are caught in is pretty congested when they are biting. What I mean is most of the fishing is done from shore and there is only room for maybe 8 guys where the fish are usually caught. The silver bass fishing can be very good at times. There is also some catfishing done and at times is very good. Catfish are usually caught from boats using the bobbing method. No good access available. Bring small boat that can take a considerable amount of current. It can be dangerous at times.
Ron at Norway Bait Shop is usually a good sorce of information. Bring alot of tackle. You will lose alot of it.     GOOD LUCK

I talked to the local DNR guy and because the creel survey came out positive the last couple years the are taking the remaining money from the guide plant fines and putting it towards new access/canoe ramps.  That irritates me.  Dead fish should be replaced with live fish.  Not more land for the DNR and more pressure/trash from the weekend canoers.

I don't necessarily agree, you can never have enough access.  Sounds like you might be a little irritated since you live on the river.  Keep in mind land for the DNR is land for all of us to use for years to come.  I wish the state had more access sites, especially up north on the lakes.

In most cases the fish should repopulate on their own, it just may take some time.  Now if certain species aren't there that were, that's a different story.
It's unfortunate people leave trash around, happens everywhere.

If i read the post correctly, 12+ lb walleye, I sure hope that fish was released. I,ve also been fishing down there for 20-25+ yrs, the dam is a great place to run into some eyes or even the nice wipers/whitebass, during there run up to the dam for spawning. The operative word there is the SPAWN. It goes without saying that fish was a female. Normally they are done with the spawn near the dam by now, but this has been a very weird winter and exceptional winter... I,ve caught females into late march with eggs down there. For a female to get that big in the tippy, (freeman), it has to be a natural producer. Something we have few of. BIG females in "that" river are a rarity. The spawn run, norway dam anglers who frequent the river know this and release them big fatty females. Its one of the reasons we have a nice popu of eyes down river all year, to troll, jig, and drift for. Congrats on the fish.

My fave hide out in the 70's and part of 80's.  If I remember right now is about the time to score some really big cats on redworms there.  Might need to run over for old time sake.  Twice as far now though.

HI Gang,
I have been catching late spring muskies all over the upper tippy for a few seasons now.  The last one has been down at the Winnimac area.  I know there in the tippy.  I just didn't know they were that far down stream yet.  Its cool the secret is out.  I bet they were washed down by the dam by the floods.  I now can understand why the bass are huging the shore lines in extremely shallow water all season in shafer and freeman.  They are avoiding getting eaten.  Now that we know where they are at I can move further south and hunt for them thanks for the info. The water in the tippy gets shallow and hot early in the spring.  The muskies might have traveled down to find cooler water.   Catching a few walleye  is a bonus.  I think they are very hard to catch on the river anytime of year.  I want to congratulate you guys on catching them.  I hope to see some of you guys this summer if I can get a few days off.
  Tight lines
  Da-Roc
