  • Bay of Quinte
We pulled up a few nice ones this past weekend with the largest of them being this beauty.

Ryan wanted to prove that you could land the big fish with ultra-light rods and 6lb mono and he was very successful in doing so.

Here is a pic for you.  There are more pics of some fish in the Ontario forum.
We landed an 11.5 and a 10 as well as lots of 5-8lb fish that were released.  With perfect weather, it was an excellent weekend!

If you haven't came to the Bay of Quinte, you should!  ;)  Our season closes March 1st this year.

Good luck all!

Jeff

Beautiful fish there Jeff!  I don't know what is bigger, the fish or that smile on your face!   ;)  Congratulations, and a well deserved smile at that!

I would love to say that I had caught that fish, however that is actually Ryan's fish.  LOL

Ryan is part of our Team.  I would say that he was pretty happy.  So were everyone who fished with us that day!

Well congrats to Ryan then!     Sorry about that!  Anyway, I'm sure that smiles are contagious, and you were reflecting his too then!  Awesome, fat walleye!

Congrats....I can only imagine how that fought. I have caught some monsters from Erie, but never from the ice ( like that ). I too use only 4 or 6 lb test and UL rods, you lose some yes but the ones you land are remembered forever. Nice job!

nice eye. Can I ask what kind of line was you using...Was it fluorocarbon? I am going to change all my poles to that next year. Heard its the best for icefishing, cause its invisible. We don't catch many eyes that big in Ind.. But this year I have lost a couple, line breaks at the hole. I am thinking its cause I use regular mono.

Check the link below, it says that fluiorocarbon line is stiff in the cold.

I have been using Fireline Crystal, I like it, but it retains water,
just like most superlines and/or braids will.

Thanks for all the replies!  It was a nice fish.  There were a couple of 14 lb fish caught in Quinte this week.
