Access to St. Anne
« on: Feb 29, 2008, 01:39 AM »
Hey there.

Going to give Lac Ste. Anne a try.  Just looking at a map.  Where is a good point of access, from the highway 43 side or the 633?  Any info is appreciated.

Thanks!

Alberta Beach access.... Val Quinten Access.. West cove Access.

Check the ice by walking out for slush and flood water before you drive out.

Thanks.  Acutally I checked my backroads map.  I forgot that it covers that area too.  I'll try at Alberta Beach.  Thanks for the tip on checking.  I always do that unless I have been there the day before.  By the way, there is a new Central Alberta Backroads map book that covers right accross AB into the NB1 area.   I have been waiting for one for this area.  It is excellent!  Comes in a ring bind style.  Picked up mine at Canuck Tire next to the fishing area.

Oh yeah, there's also access at Mission on the south side off 633 past Val, Ross Haven & Yellowstone on the North end off 43 - Val Quentin is the popular spot as of late, people hammering the whites pretty hard, or at least trying to.

I will be infront of the boat launch and pier early tomorrow. If I dont see a ling or white within a half hour going to move to the mission drop off.
I will be in a grey ext cab gmc or on a green Honda Rubicon with sled in tow.

Looks like I'll miss you by a day FiveO.  I'm going this afternoon.  Tomorrow I will be at Sylvan for a friendly gathering.  If I make it out there I'll be sure to post back tonight on the action.

Cheers!

P.S.  THANKS FOR THE INFO ALL!!  It is appreciated.

Had to work until 4 p.m.  Didn't make it to St. Anne as that is not enough daylight to explore a lake for the first time.  Hope you slay them there!

I did make it to Pigeon though.  Big skunkola on the whites but man are the walleye going nuts.  Landed 7 in just over an hour and they are hitting everything including wire worms.  Not what I was looking for but still fun  ;D

You catch em' @ Alberta Beach or Mission?  The drop off at Mission seems a pretty promising spot from the 1 time I was there specifically.

Anytime I catch a big white I know I'm happy  :)
How was the surface conditions?  Any big flood ice to watch out for?

Thanks FiveO!
