What's working for you?
« on: Feb 10, 2008, 07:28 PM »
Hey Team Ontario and everyone else

Just though it would cool to see what everyone is using to put fish on the ice with this ice this season and maybe what's not working for ya. So many baits out it's hard to find what will work for ya on any given day. I found that getting a bit of everything helps with that  ;D Just picked up a bunch of the Linfy Rattlin Flyer spoons which look like they might be one of my new favorites.

Below is what I have found to be working well for me...

1. Buck-Shot Rattle Spoon and Forage Minnow Jig'n Spoon have proved to be the hottest lure in my box yet again this season. I have have caught everything from crappies to speckle trout and walleye on them. One tip I can suggest is to change the hooks no matter what, as soon as they come out of the package. I upgrade to a high quality hook my favorite being the Stinger trebles from Owner Hooks. Usually change the split rings too after a few experiences with the standard stock split ring from Northland( :nono: )

2. T.H.E. Jig - No other bait has caught me more crappies and bluegill this season than T.H.E. Jig in a Pink/White pattern. Poured, paint and hand tied from member CrappieKeith these quality jigs have made the aspect of searching out crappies and catching them much more sporadic and entertaining. You can get more info on these very special hair jigs by contacting either Keith and I through Pm's. No doubt this is a key jig in every panfish hunters arsenal. I have the proof  :)

3. Williams Whitefish is another spoon I have had tremendous success on for walleye this season when they are a bit shallow. No need to change these hooks, there pretty sharp right out of the pack..It doesn't hurt to sharpen them after every fish though  ;)

After seeing your selection and watching you rear many fish on the pimples Len I am going to have to no doubt find some room in the spoon box for a couple of the them in the 1/10 oz and 3/4 oz size ;D

When you say plastics your reffering to the almighty micro tube right?
