a week ago thursday picked up  3 smalleys  2 over 4lbs and some nice perch fishing off the slate pile no pike though

 There is a slate pile off of Cedar MT. Road. Or maybe they are talking about the green dump.
  The whole lake is  pretty much an old slate pile. I heard tell it was a quarry at one time. The slate pile I know of
 is straight off the north end of the big Island along the west shore. In the summer they have a hazard bouy
  there.. But why fish smallies when the perch ,gills and crappies are biting. They taste so much better than those big bass. And you usually catch a lot more.
