Names on tip-ups
« on: Jan 30, 2008, 10:05 PM »
Here in N.J. and I know also in N.Y. it is required to have your name and address on your tip ups. Is it required in Pa. I didn't see anything in the digest, and was just wondering.

Thanks, I live in N.J., but do my fishing in Pa., I have been checked by the warden in Pa. and They never said anything. I don't have my name on my tip-ups. Gonna order some brass "dog license" type tags with my info and put them on my Tip-ups anyhow, in case I fish some home water.

In Montana We dont have to have name tags on them unless we are going to leave them and then they have to be checked every 24 hours or sooner.Name tag must have name, address and phone no. or name and fishing license no. on it.
I couldnt stand to leave a tipup or line unattended for that long. :) just too anxious to get the big one. ;D

From what I've been told it is required in NY but not in PA.  Guys I know headed up to NY always talk about having
to put names on their tip-ups, one reason I heard mentioned was that leaving the tip-up "unattended" was against
the law, therefore they would be able to track the tip-up to it's owner, I'm sure the laws in Montana are much looser.

Not a bad idea to have your contact info on your equipment in the event that you lose it.

I engraved my name and address into mine so anyone who may show interest in stealing them would have no reason...they'd have to sand em into toothpicks just to get my contact info off of them  ;D

I always thought we were required to have our name and addresses on them. Guess I just got used to fishing out of state so much I forgot which states need me to have it and which don't

PA ICE MAN,
I did just that, ordered tags from Larry Finch, can't bet the price! looks like a good tag. I got them with two holes, I will just get some small brass wood screws and screw them onto my Beaver Dams. Will last a life time and my sons will inherate em. ;)

I just take a Marker(Sharpie) and write it on the flag every year so it stands out it also helps to tell whose tip up is whose when fishing with a bunch of guys.

It is not reguired in PA., but trap tag would be the way to go.  Larry is a good guy, his prices are good,  and quality is great.

In NY use of tip-ups are not Angling. They are considered a fish trap just like a minnow trap. Thus name and address.

I just have my initials on them so i don't get them mixed up with my friends tipups. Didn't even know you had to put your info on them upstate.
