(Note:) The lake is a owned by the town of Marlborough, and so is the beach and the access.
Everything else around the lake is privately owned.
The Trout and Walleye stocked in the lake was done by the town and not the State of CT.
My understanding is you need permission by a land owner, possibly the town to fish it.
I,ve fished it myself but have a friend who lives on the lake and he gave me a dated handwritten note last year with permission to cross his property and fish the lake. That covered me if the town police came along.
Would,nt try fishing it again unless you have such a note.

no body of water is PRIVATE unless you own the property it is on.  the town cops arent going to kick anyone off that pond.  the only thing they could do is tow your ride or give you a ticket.. you dont need a note to be on the pond..  i fish at lakes up here where you need to be a town resident to park but no 1 cares because we have better thinks to b***h about.  pick up your mess and be nice to all and there shouldnt be a problem.

HOW CAN IT BE PRIVATE IF IT HAS A TOWN BEACH..  THE ONLY REASON IT SAYS RESIDENTS ONLY IS FOR SUMMER BEACH PARKING...  IF ANYONE WILL THROW U OFF OF A LAKE ITS FISH AND GAME NOT THE COPS..  I COULD STOP AT ANYONE OF THE HOUSES ON THE POND AND GET PERMISSION FROM SOMEONE..  I LIVED IN CT FOR 24YRS I NO WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT.  ILL BE THERE THIS WEEKEND WITH 4 OF MY FRIENDS.  STOP ON BY..LOL

That's one "law" that has been in question for EVER!
I guess, unless a landowner comes out with his/her deed and prints of the property who's to say.
But, would you want to deal with it?
Be clean and polite...maybe things will work out.

Town beach, town owned, resident access (Only), ***NO PUBLIC ACCESS***, Private property all around pond. If you don't have permission from town or property owners to get access to water you are tresspassing thus local police have juristiction and can charge you with tresspass.
Woodridge Lake is the same, as are a number of other lakes and ponds in Ct., and are catagorized as private and local police do have juristiction.

I have fished at amston lake many of time with no problems..  it must just be you guys who live near terramuggus.  like i said before i could stop by any house on that lake and someone would give me permission..  the cops have better things to deal with then people parking in a parking lot no one uses in the winter. who cares if anyone fishes there or anywhere..

Oh the best is when you get checked week after week by police who are called by the same resident who knows your vehicle.  Or people TELL you not to use a power auger at 8 am on Bantam.  Ive had cops come out and tell me I couldnt drills holes at 9am in the morning.

People complain- its there nature.  thats how that lake went private in the first place.  I usually drive around a lake in the summer and meet an elderly woman or two and chat until I casually ask for permission to park in front of there home and access the pond/lake after being an extremely polite young man who is 100% C&R- people have no problem allowing you to fish (*Usually*) if your kind, dont litter, and are not a raging drunk.

Btw- pocotopaug is PRIVATE UNTIL October 15th or something.  Then the town launch becomes a state launch and anyone can park there until opening day.

I fished on umpawaug in Redding and had the state cops pull us off the lake because it is private. I used to fish it as a kid but the new people on the lake don't want anyone on it. If a cop tells you to get off or get a ticket what are you gonna do?  Seems like a lot of places open to fishing before are being shut out because people don't want liability or are just snobs. I will stick to where I am welcome.
