Well, the brightness of glow will depend on the paint used, the denisty that its put on, and the method and time of charge. Throughout side by side testing with L.E.D.'S, Camera Flashes and UV lights, ive found that UV lights charge phosforescent pigments the best.

I use the Custom Jigs and Spins Nuclear Flash with the Purple UV lense. It out performed the Northland L.E.D.'s and Camera flashes hands down. With respect to different paints and their intensities the NF gave a more brilliant intial charge as long as longer lasting.

Hope this helps.

I've been considering the same purchase. I saw a small high intensity flash tool that was specifically made to charge glow jigs. Only problem is I now can't remember which bait shop I saw it it. It would have fit nicely into the smaller compartments of my ice fishing tackle box.

I use a small LED light 10-30 seconds.  It charges it up pretty swell dint know for how long down the hole they glow but it was only 2$ and its effect on my lure has been catching fish.

I'm going to try a LED maglite this weekend.  My cousin has some sort of flasher for his spoons for salmon fishing.  I think both would work well.  doesnt have to last that long....its pretty easy to pull your line up an put the LED maglite on it again.

i found out if you shine a regular glow jig (green) for 30 secs then it will glow for 6 mins good before fading out after 8 mins total but red will glow for only about 2-3 mins total but the LED that i have is slightly blue  and if you know about wave length blue is fare away from red so there is not a lot of red light going into the jig to be reflected as the glowing action if your using red or other color jigs you might want to try to find a flash light with that color or one that is a warm white which is full spectrum

Usually use the propane lantern if it's on. I did purchase the "Tazer" put out by Lindy Tackle a few years ago and this thing really does the job plus it's small and hangs on my lanyard around my neck with the nail clippers for easy access. I also have a few of them LED's that clip on your rod handle by Nature Vision they work OK but not as efficiently as the Tazer or the lantern.

Well, the ice hasnt exactly shaped up here on the bay until Feb. the last few years, so we're well prepared up here when it does hit. But in reality, ive used them all over the years and by comparing them all the UV is by far the best for charging them.

This will charge your jigs well. ;)...just make sure you get the Purple UV lense on it.

I purchased a product called lure lightning and I bought it online it works real well with all color glow stuff, I like it because it fits on my vexilar and replaces the gimbal knob. and I use my foot to charge as I'm bringing up my line.Real nifty product !!! 8) 8)

You can use a flashlight or if you are serious about charging things up try this! I took a 12volt 50w bulb and set it to the side of my hole. then I took a switch that I can step on, momentary switch. When I reel up to check my bait I drop the jig next to the light and step on the switch. It sucks up a little battery power but its worth it. one more thing. Take your jig box and leave it in the sunlight for part of the day. That charges them better than anything we can come up with.  GOOD FISHING

A camera flash will charge it better than any light will ever be able to.

Sorry, luckyfish, but I would aggree more with FishinAddiction. A camera flash is instant, and alot brighter then a lantern will ever get. That's what "recharging" means!

try a digiatal camera.  Try using the flash of the camera, flash the bait two or three times.  It works awsome!
