High Vis Lines
« on: Jan 31, 2008, 05:55 AM »
Fellow Fishers, I know that Hi Vis Lines are so much easier to see when tying to a very small jig, easier to detect light bites by watching line and are all around easier to use, but do they bother the fish? Do you feel the fish shy away from it? What do you use for gills, crappies and perch? Thanks

Thats exactly what i do on my "native rigs".  It makes it great when there is a bunch of line on the ice, so you don't step on it or get tripped up running to another flag.

I use the Ice Blue.  It doesn't show up well under the water, but you can see it against the snow.

Try Shaekespeare's Cajun Red. They claim that it dissappears after about 5 feet down in the water column. My brother lined his pole with it last year and still catches just as many fish as I do with my low vis green.

I have been hunting or fishing almost everyday of my life. The rest have been wasted.

i think the day fish are smart enough to say "oh thats fishing line" we are all in trouble! Remember, you only have to be a little smarter than a fish to catch him! Some of us have trouble with this.......

Any edge helps when it comes to fishing or hunting. Try fishing with some dacron for some of those Big bay bluegills and see what kind of luck you have. ;)

True any edge does help that why I ONLY use 2lb test when fishing for panfish which is what I fish for 90% of the time.

i have, and i think the fish can see it. they just can't reason. they strike and feed on instinct. Dacron works good except it is too heavy for little reels. so use spiderwire it comes in lower test. no memory in either so you will feel more bites. but if you sight fish or use a camera you will see that the fish don't care about the line. they want the maggot. they have the maggot, they feel the jig, they don't want it anymore! but they are stupid, instinct brings them right back! they want the maggot, they have the maggot, they feel the jig, they spit it out! this happens all day every day to everyone.so you are right. every edge we have to take advantage of... which is why i use 2# stren gold  2# so i can feel my jig(less memory coils) gold so i can see the hit in my line. spring bobbers work also if you are looking for the spring to lift up, not waiting for it to go down.
