Go to equipment tips. It has been discussed in great detail there. I use a strikemaster cause I like the curved blades and offset handles (that I bought separately) Nils master has top of the line auger designed from the European models. I've used it and it is now on my wish list. I used to use the Moras and they are ok if you only drill 10 holes an outing. They give you a good workout if drilling over 100, and your arm is stiff the next day.
Depends on how much you want to spend, how quickly you want a hole, how much of a workout you want, how......

I like the Strikemaster mora.  Just got new blades for it and it cuts easy.  It is pretty reasonably priced too.

Nils Master is definitely the way to go. I've had a Mora, a Lazer and bought a Nils last year. No comparison. The Nils is far and away the best.

I am cant stress this enough buy a Nils Master. I am a member of the ice team also and in november we had a big discussion on hand augers. About how much area an 8" and 6" auger removes of ice. One guy said that a 8" Nils is far easier than a 6" Mora, Strike King what ever it out performs them all and has a bigger auger. (8 to six is an example.) Well i was one of the neigh sayers about this and said it would be physically impossible for an 8" to out perform a 6". Just due to the physics of the matter. Well This whole discussion got me curious to the fact, and well turned out it was on my Xmas list. I used a 6" mora for the longest time, and just last year was lent a strike king lazer and thought that was the Cats *%@, if you know what i mean. Well we didnt have ice till this past week end since before Xmas. And i used my Mora for my first three outtings hoping i was getting a new auger for Xmas. Well i got it and had to wait 3 weeks to use it. I used it saturday afternoon, and drilled approx. 25 holes, and did not get sore. Very easy and the offset handle helps in a massive way. It drills 8 inches of ice in like 20 seconds maybe even less but that is a guess, no tiredness between holes or stoping for breath, i Drilled 8 holes then started fishing.  And well It by far the best hand Auger out there. I had priced it before Xmas, and it was retailling for about $170 canadian, at my tackle store. It is the easiest machine on the ice, and would definitely recomend buying it, it is deffinitely worth the extra cash.

Good luck, hope this helps,
KJay

I don't thinks it's the best, but for the money the Strikemaster mora does a good job. Replacement blades run about 12-15 bucks and can be found just about anywhere.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an  well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, A fishing pole in one hand, beer in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming \"WOO HOO, what a ride!

UPS delivered my new Nils yaesterday , Cant wait to try it out . I've heard all the talk for a couple years now and figured it was time . I have a jiffy power but dont use it unless there 10 or more inches of ice or going with a crowd setting alot of tip ups. I have a Mora thats 10 years old still in good shape . Looks like its gonna get rest.

My first Mora ,some 20 years ago , got me in the back of my brothers station wagon on night at Whitney Point , The cover can off and as I was reaching in there my fingers ran right across the blade.
  I know the feeling.

   Ouch....
