Any ice in Calabogie???
« on: Jan 09, 2008, 10:49 PM »
Thinking of heading out to calabogie this coming weekend.  i know the weather has been crap days out there. but does anybody know the ice conditions of the lakes up that way???

thinking of pulling off a triple header on sunday.  Brookies, Bows, Lakers...and...maybe Browns???  could be doable.  couple hours at each lake???

well thanks for the heads up!!!

We need a change Matt. Sunday looks like a go for me. Some of the lakes have not even completely tightend up  :) I think Eric mentioned wanted join too. Will have to wait to hear work from Len if he has the chance to make it out there at all over the remainder of the week and weekend for an update IF he gets out. Maybe he can get his hands on some more of those perfect little minners from the source too!  ;)

Be there around 7 again Len...The weather is a bit colder up in Bogie according to Environment Canada..Will think of something tomorrow. Might make it out for a few hours in the morning to sharpen up on my walleye techniques before Quinte..It's a completely different ball park out there.

Anyone else going to around Bogie this weekend?

hey len i'll be popping in tomorow, i have class at 3 tomorow so i'm good to go.

just to let you guys know, that at petrie, walleye bay, you can't get on to the ice.  i checked it out this morning, and no dice.  there's about 15 feet of thin ice, that you will break through instantly. and there's only one shak standing.  the bigger one. the other two shaks tipped over, and seem a little farther from where they were originaly.  so i'm not too sure about this sunday thing in the calabogie area.  it hasn't been that much colder there then here.  anyways we'll need to talk about sunday, that's for sure.

hey eric, yeah we are going sunday, early, very early!! anyways i think we are targeting, bows, brooks, browns and lakers. it's going to be a wicked day!  that's if there's ice out there!

well talk to you guys tomorow.  see you at the shop len, what time do you open up?????

Sounds good  and with a little luck there might even be a little bit of snow on the ground so we don't have to drag the traps through the gravel...

Perfect pan size if that's what you referring too. They made there way back down the hole..

We did however have a few of these weird looking creatures come up the hole

Hey Andrew, that insect is a water scorpion.  On my last time out on Cr Bay just before all that rain, the open holes were filled with them and water boatmen.  They're weird to see in the middle of winter for sure.
