Someone posted that Tough Creek was fishable somewhere here Bill. I was at S. Muddy then other day and there was a couple guys with 4 wheelers over at 45 ft water at N. Muddy, ice was about 5 good solid inches. Sissies got some hot springs though, be careful buddy, let us know, laters,  ;D

Thanks. I have some spots that I want to try out this year. We'll have to fish together this year. Where is everyone going to camp this year at the tourney.

Good question..I plan on going but would like to know where the hot camping spot is. I'm ready to drink some beer with everyone. That is of course after I rip some lips!! :icefish:

I spent Saturday and sunday by south Muddy. The fishing was slow for me. I caught 1 sauger, 1 ling, one trout and 8 perch.
I did see a guy that caught a big catfish and another Guy with a good Walleye.
There was about  8" of clear ice. The perch seemed to be scattered and not very aggressive.

That's what I found last day I was out there..."scratch and sniff" perch...how deep water did you fish?

I was mostly running and gunning. Drilled a couple hundred holes from Fremont all the way past north muddy. The deepest water I could find was 38 feet. (forgot my GPS so I didn't check some of my old spots)
Merry Christmas everyone!

Yeah, what used to be 45-48 feet is considerably less now . Oh well.  I'm wondering how the ice is at the Sisters, I mean how thick and safe...place gives me the woolies after I dumped my 4 wheeler last year...course that was right near the bank, thank God! ;D

My wife and I fished Boysen south of Tough Creek on Sunday and Monday morning.  The ice was about 7" thick and was groaning and cracking like mad.

It was pretty much dead during the day but we ended up doing pretty well on perch as the sun approached the horizon, and again early on Monday.  The perch were all good sized, between 10-13".

Besides the perch we we only got one ridiculously fat rainbow.

We went out to Badwater last Sunday. It was pretty slow. I took out my son Trevor, and his friend Justin and we each caught a nice rainbow. Each was about the same size. There was at least 7" of ice, enough that you didn't have to worry.

 ;D

Trevor is out fishing me now. This one he caught last year at Boysen.

There's a monster brown out there that my nephew had up to the boat last year.  We had him almost half way into the net before he broke off.  Hope you catch him or his daddy! Good Luck KR

Thank you. we will really try to catch it. :icefish: we will try to catch  some bigger  0trout  too!  We are using minnows for trout, suspended about 10' in 20' of water. Trying to catch some perch too, bit not too much luck in Badwater. What depth do you suggest..............t ed and trevor.

12 inches off the bottom for perch, smaller minnow the better,

What is the minimum depth you usually fish for the Perch? Is it always necessary to get into the channel? I've always fished for trout (and ling). Caught some perch and a few walleyes but it is fairly new to me (and Trevor). Lakers are my passion.

As the weather gets colder, the perch go deeper, that being the case, they may already be in 45-plus depths and no you don't have to be in the channel, it's the cover the dead cottonwoods provide alomng the bed of the old river. Good luck, best lakers east of the range Lander/Riverton are in Bull Lake on the res, smaller ones in Christina Lake ...you on east or west side of WY ?  ;D

We are in Riverton. Just started fishing Boysen last year. Had lived in Rock Springs for years and fished the Gorge. When we moved to Riverton, I started fishing Ocean and Pilot Butte with varying degrees of luck. But I've done better on Boysen, still kind of exploring it. We tend to like to go to the more isolated spots though. They increased the price of the Reservation permits.......heck, the $50 fee scared be off.....let alone the 80 now.
