Stone Lake Laporte
« on: Dec 28, 2007, 08:24 PM »
I tried to call Kaast bait Friday to see if the boat launch at Stone was froze in or if we could still launch a boat?  If anyone over that way knows the boat launch is still useable, please let us know.  Thanks in advance.

Last time I tried to launch my boat at stone nearly ruined my motor. The water table is so low that you have to manually push your boat off the trailer. Then about 20 yards out you hit a reef of rocks only covered with about 6 inches of water. What a mess. I have been launching at pine lake and paying the 10.00 just to avoid the hastles. Then you have the channel to navigate. What a waste of time and money with the dredging they tried. Whoever they gave this job to should hbe hung. With chunks of concrete that will rip your prop off and 1 foot of water in places it makes it almost impossible to fish both lakes unless you have a small john boat. I remember from last year that you said you caught a good amount of fair sized perch right out from the ramp. about 25-30 feet of water in Stone Lake. Good luck and keep us informed.

I heard that they have been talking about replacing the lost water 4 years but have yet to commit. Sure wish the council would get off the pot. This would surely make a big difference. All we can do is to keep praying and paying.

DOC< I will check tomorrow again for you..

Last I recall, the ramp was froze, however straight out off the ramp is open. One of the deeper holes there. Not sure how thick it was, if you could bust it or not? Most of the lake is open, or very skimmed. I will either post here, or send you a PM tomorrow.

I have no problem checking tomorrow! Gives me a reason to punch another hole!
