My first walk on the water
« on: Dec 23, 2007, 12:45 PM »
Went out yesterday to Lancaster Mill Pond in Clinton right down the street...poked a few holes close to shore and stuck with jigging...no traps....threw on some mealies and got a bunch of perch....but also snagged 3 nice stockie rainbows.....10-20 ft from shore in 3-5 ft of water....

5 inches of white ice...no slush..... :)

Good thing you walked on yesterday Unoman because it might be a little iffy after the rain and warmer temps coming./The one thing that will save us is the lows at night 20`s. Kind of suprised with some of the pics of the mass ice.We had pretty good ice here in R.I.

I think the weather is going to do us good though, fresh ice around the corner and less snow for pond access and less to walk through on the ice, good job K getting out.

You should have gone out to Bare Hill Pond!  I went out Sat to get the rust off the snowmobiles and was pleasantly surprised by three guys out on the ice.  They were fishing your favorite spot on the other side of the island in 8-10 feet.  I didn't want to run the sleds out over the ice so I stuck to the edge and made it out close to them and walked over.  They had a nice 23", 6 lb largemouth in a bucket and said they caught a few smaller ones and a few pickeral.  There was a good 5 inches of ice but it had a good 6 inches of slop on top.  The guys said the action was incredible and they were down to reusing minnows.  I can't wait to get out there myself.

So about 10 to 20 feet off that shore? How deep is it?
