O.K. everybody. Looking at all the other state forums, guys stay on top of thier reports. IL is always blank. How about everybody try to make an effort this year & utilize the tools we have right in front of us right now reading this post. Any thoughts on this? I know we need some ice first, but let's all try just a little bit more this year! I know some of you screw around at work on this site, so we all have some time to make posts!

I'm here in Maine and we use our board like crazy everyone on the site is great with info and reports. I check it everyday. I'm in the Navy stationed in Brunswick Maine and will be retiring to Morris Ill. next year--hope you guys get your reports going. Maybe Ill bring some of Maines cold with me when I come. I have one more winter here in Maine. Good luck on the ice to all you guys!!

Well, this Jarhead normally doesn't hang out with squids, but maybe we can get out on the ice sometime when you get back! Must be nice to get ice way before us up there!!!

Valleye: Were gona do some hella damage! Yes backwater spots.Scouted by boat last summer found access to them googleing Earth.
Might even get a smallie on the Kank

I live in the Quad Cities and found about 1" on a pond today. Hopefully these next two days will prep us for the weekend. I am itching to be fishin....

WOW nice. I dunno if three inches is something i would go on!!! I am more of a strong 4 inches so i feel safe. BUt i know a couple of small small ponds with BIG fish so when i get back from WIU i will def go straight to them with my auger. lol

I am home Friday from work but can't fish. Wife has her annual shopping trip...So I get to watch my 3 yr old son. I get to go on my 2nd annual ice fishing shopping trip with the guys from church on Saturday. Gonna hit Cabela's(Hoffman Estates), BassPro Shops(Gurnee) and Gander MOuntain(Kenosha, WI). If there is time, we will try to get to Sportsmans Warehouse, too. So if I can get out on Sunday, I will be lucky.

prayforice he went out there and the 3" was along the south shore. he did more exploring and found only 1.5-2" in the middle. the pond he was on though is only about knee deep but it would be cold anyway you look at it. I will wait though he did say he made it to the hennepin canal today and it had 4" on it and two older guys out there fishing.

Jbird I'm not sure if you know but there is a Basspro in Bolingbrook Il.now and also a Gander mountain in Geneva Il. Could save you some travel time and give you more shopping time. If your like me you want to spend as much time as you can going through the stores looking for the deals. Good Luck and have a fun trip.

Went out yesterday on a farm pond in Henry county and slayed the bluegills and crappie right around dinner time. They got hot from 4:00 to 6:00. There was 4" of ice in most places. There was a couple of spots that hadn't froze yet though there must of been springs there. I needed more poles and more hands.

Went to the visitors center on the canal at sheffield today. Probably had atleast 7". My bro, tbirdbassr, and I caught a quite a few small ones and a few keepers but nothing big. We did alright from about 12-2 p.m.

I went out today on about 4.5 to 5 inches of ice and did fairly well. I managed to get about 25 bluegills 10 or so crappies and three bass all on a jig and waxie.
