Perch/Walleye Rod-Reel

What is a good Perch and walleye rob and reel?

I just bought a Ugly Stick that I hope will work good for both.

Which would work better  light, medium or medium light action rod?

a good walleye rod would be a medium action, and i have a perch rod that is med light.  it has nice backbone, but a very forgiving tip.  any small reel that has a good drag system will work.
